The Rieutord river takes its source in the Gard department, in Saint-Martial, and more precisely in the Liron mountain. The river receives water from the Elbès river, one of its tributaries, then crosses Saint-Roman-de-Codières before crossing Sumène where it receives its main tributary, the Recodier river. Afterwards, it dives underground before reappearing in Ganges, in the Hérault department, where it flows into the eponymous river, the Hérault. The Rieutord is 26.3 km long.
