Ganges is a true departure gate opening on the Causses and the Cevennes, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site for their Mediterranean agro-pastoral Cultural Landscape. Its geographical location is strategic: situated between plains and mountains, at the confluences of the Vis, Hérault and of the Rieutord rivers, it is a place where people pass by and exchange since many centuries. Numerous vestiges and scattered marks from the past are still visible in the "old" Ganges : one of the nine fountains which dates back to the 18th c, the Hotel Bertrand de Maisonneuve which still has every feature of the houses of the industrial aristocrats of the 17th c. Come to Ganges every friday for the most beautiful market of the region.
